Rule of Thirds

The 'Rule of Thirds' are imaginary lines drawn that divide an image into thirds both horizionally and vertically. You place important elements of your composition where the lines intersect:

You can arrange areas into bands occupying a third or place along the imaginary lines, as well as using the intersections.

Good places to put things:
    - a third of the way up.
    - a third of the way in from the left.

Bad places to put things:
    - right in the middle.
    - right at the top.
    - right at the bottom.
    - away in a corner.

The Rule of Thirds help to produce balanced, easy on the eye, photographs.
