Evaluation of Filming

We had two different filming days with the band, one was a Saturday night at a gig at The Charles Ground Football Club where we filmed the performance part of the music video, the second was a Sunday morning at The Magnet Pub where we filmed the narrative part of the music video.

Filming at The Charles Ground
We thoroughly enjoyed filming City Lightz at The Charles Ground as it meant that we would be able to feel the atmosphere from the crowd whilst performing, and also see how the band reacted with their audience.
We managed to get quite a lot of footage of the band performing which was good, and also some shots of the crowd enjoying the music, which were shots that we really wanted to get. The time went really quickly and we filmed most of their songs so that we could have the different instruments.
The band did a performance of the song "Tired Eyes" which is the one that we are using for our music video, so we placed the camera in a certain position so that we could have footage of Jack, the lead singer, performing into the camera, this footage is my favourite piece that we filmed from that night.
However, we did have a few troubles filming, quite a few people got in the view of the camera and were pushing about to get to the front of the crowd in order to see the band, all of this caused the tripod our camera was on to bend. Also, some of the crowd began to "mosh", which meant that people were getting pushed into us and moving the camera.
Even with all this, the footage that we came out with from that night we think is really good and something that we can definatly work with when it comes to creating our final music video.

Filming at The Magnet, Pub
The main struggle we had with filming at the pub on a Sunday was being able to use the space, and also to find a date that we were all free. Originally, we were told we could only use the pub in the day-time of a weekday, due to the weekends being their busiest time, however, when we said we wanted an empty pub and were happy to use it in the morning before they opened, they allowed us to use it.
It was quite difficult at the beginning of filming, as the guys weren't too sure on what they were to do, and I think they were feeling a little bit nervous about acting, however, they soon got the hang of things, as for 90% of the filming, we just needed them to act how they usually do around it other, and to pretend that the camera wasn't there.
The band decided that Jack, the lead singer of the band, should be the lead male character within the narrative section of our music video due to him taking Drama at A-Level and already being an actor, also, he knows the lyrics off by heart and therefore was able to lip-sync them easily.
We did have some difficulties in the filming process in that we had Tom's dad, Carl, taking photo's for the band in the background, so every now and again we had to try and move him out of the shot.

All in all, the filming at both location went really well, and we managed to get a lot a footage, which hopefully will mean that we wont have to go and do any more re-shoots with the band.
